Ay uP
Had a busy
but fun few weeks from making new artwork and seeing my number one music
inspiration Omar Rodríguez-López performing
with new band Antemasque, to promoting the Arthur and Merlin film in London’s
Comic Con. I even snuck in a cheeky visit to the Tate to see an exhibition from
one of the all time greats Malevich.
I am
currently working on a series of block prints that play with depth using a mono
printing style. I will be
posting a more in depth blog soon on these so stay tuned.
Arthur and Merlin visit Comic Con
The first
outing to promote Arthur and Merlin went really well and looked great amongst
the vibrant madness of this year’s Comic Con in London’s Earls Court. Here are
a few images from the Saturday.
Kazimir
Malevich
I
feel very lucky to have timed the visit to London so well to catch this
fantastic show at the Tate Modern. During my Masters I delved into the world of
abstraction and found Malevich’s work challenging me to ask questions and
further my dialogue with images and art construction. I also love the style of
his works and have since used him as a vibrant place to visit for inspiration.
There was such a great range of work there. Anyone who knows me will know that
I love seeing process and that I often find this more interesting than looking
at the finished pieces on their own. This show had sketches and research works
as well as the beautifully exhibited final pieces. I especially liked the
recreation of the show in which saw the Black Square hung high up in the
corner.
Anyway,
what I would like to say is you should check him out if you don’t know who he
is as its great. Really great.
Atemasque
The
new offerings from Omar Rodríguez-López. I cant say enough good things about
this crazy talented human. Such an amazing night and a rare opportunity to see
him and Cedric up so close. I left feeling ecceptionally inspired to get on
with my recording of an EP. I will post updates on this as and when but I aim
to bring something out in 2015.
Please go and check them out.
Their album is out in November.
So then.
Look out for a film or two coming soon, I've lined up a large project that should be finished in 2 weeks. Very excited.
